The Canadian Beekeepers Federation represents Canada’s commercial beekeeping operations. We respond to media enquiries on bee imports and border policy, honey fraud and labelling, biosecurity and pest threats, and the economics of commercial honey production and pollination.

What we can speak to
- Bee imports and the border. Import risk assessment, the package bee trade, and the case for precautionary restriction against Tropilaelaps.
- Honey fraud and labelling. Adulteration, testing methods, country-of-origin claims, and the organic import question.
- Bee health and biosecurity. Mites, hive losses, miticide approvals, and Canada’s preparedness for pests not yet present here.
- The economics of the industry. Production costs, pollination contracts, import competition and what they mean for whether operations stay in business.
